The annual Rose City Tournament gets under way Thursday night at the John Fitzgerald Gymnasium. The field includes teams from as far away as Shasta and includes local teams Petaluma, Analy and Marin Catholic.
Established in 1968 by legendary coach John Fitzgerald, Newman won its first Rose City title in 1969. Newman looks to defend the 2022 Championship with a young scrappy squad that comes in undefeated, while Petaluma hopes for a second title in the last three years with returning all-tourney senior Andy Bai.
Newman opens up Thursday night with the Shasta Wolves. The host Cardinals are coming off a tourney championship at the Sutter Home Classic last week. Freshman AJ Cole earned MVP honors and looks to continue to lead the young Cardinals this weekend.
Analy and Marin Catholic tip things off at 3:30 and the action continues through Saturday’s Championship game at 4 PM.
Good Luck to all the teams!
